Laser dental treatment

lasersDentistry ,nowadays ,uses the best technology provided by different fields and lasers have not remain untouched. Special lasers have been designed for use in the dental field. A LASER is an instrument that produced a very narrow, intense beam of light energy. When laser light comes in contact with the tissue,it causes a reaction. This light produced by the laser can remove or shape teeth, bone or gums. Several variants of lasers are now available. Different lasers use different wavelengths and this means that they are better suited for different applications. Some lasers work best on soft tissues like gums and are best used for periodontal/gum surgeries. These lasers cause cauterization of the tissue, thereby resulting in less bleeding. Other types of dental lasers work on teeth or bones of the jaws.
USES OF DENTAL LASERS
  • » Reduce the discomfort of oral ulcers.
  • » Expose a partially erupted wisdom tooth
  • » Remove muscle attachments that limit proper movement.
  • » Remove overgrown gum tissues
  • » Perform biopsy procedures
  • » Remove inflamed gum tissues and aid in the treatment of gum disease.
  • » Remove or reshape gum and bone tissues during crown lengthening procedures
  • » Speed up tooth whitening procedures
Although the laser is a very useful dental instrument,it is not appropriate for every dental procedure.
